SRINAGAR: Sajad Kargili, a member of the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), decided to join the race of Lok Sabha elections from Ladakh as an Independent Candidate on Thursday.
He confirmed the decision to join the parliament election race from Ladakh as an Independent Candidate to Kashmir Life.

Kargili is a political activist from Kargil. He is a senior member of the Kargil Democratic Alliance that is at the forefront of the struggle for Ladakh’s statehood and guarantees under the Sixth schedule of the Constitution.
Earlier, the local leaders of the Congress and the National Conference (NC) proposed the name of Haji Hanifa Jan as the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc candidate for the Ladakh Parliament seat.
BJP candidate Tashi Gyalson filed his nomination papers from the Ladakh parliamentary constituency on Wednesday, stating his primary focus will be resumption of dialogue between the Centre and the Ladakh leadership for resolution of “pending issues”.
Gyalson, who is also chief executive councilor-cum-chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh, submitted his nomination papers before the returning officer Santosh Sukhadeve in presence of party general secretary (organisation) Ashok Koul and former minister Sat Sharma.
