Timberlake Addresses Fans at Chicago Concert
Justin Timberlake publicly addressed his recent arrest for driving while intoxicated (DWI) for the first time during a concert at Chicago’s United Center on Friday. The 43-year-old pop icon, currently on his “Forget Tomorrow” world tour, took a moment to acknowledge the incident in front of his supportive fans.
“It’s been a tough week,” Timberlake told the audience, who responded with cheers. “I know I’m hard to love sometimes, but you keep loving me right back.” This was Timberlake’s first performance since his arrest on June 18 in the Hamptons. His tour will continue with shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on June 25 and 26.
Details of the Arrest
Timberlake was pulled over in his gray 2025 BMW in Sag Harbor, Long Island, at around 12:15 a.m. on June 18. According to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, he failed to stop at a stop sign and struggled to stay in the correct lane. The arresting officer noted Timberlake “performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” had “bloodshot and glossy eyes,” and emitted a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.”

The singer admitted to having one martini at The American Hotel and was following friends home. Despite this, he refused to take a breathalyzer test at the police station in East Hampton. The arresting officer, who did not recognize Timberlake, captured the interaction on body camera footage, with Timberlake lamenting that the arrest would “ruin the tour.”
Legal Proceedings and Defense
Timberlake faces one count of driving while intoxicated and citations for failing to keep right and failing to stop at a stop sign. He is scheduled to appear virtually for his first court hearing on July 26. Ed Burke, Timberlake’s lawyer, commented on the arrest, stating, “I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations. I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s office.”
Fan Support and Future Performances
At the Chicago concert, Timberlake shared a heartfelt message with his fans, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support. “We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights. It’s been a tough week, but you’re here and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now,” he said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Despite the arrest, Timberlake plans to continue his “Forget Tomorrow” world tour, promoting his sixth studio album, “Everything I Thought I Was.” The tour will proceed with a second show at the United Center on Saturday, followed by performances at Madison Square Garden.
